Facilitators at Lome Heard ES sponsor many after school clubs to allow our learners to further explore and develop their interests in a variety of activities. This page provides information about each of these clubs.
AFTER SCHOOL ALL STARS
Love video games? Love math? Prodigy Club invites learners to come together and increase their math skills using Prodigy. Learners will work together to battle, collect pets, and become math super stars.

ROBOTICS
Lomie Heard ES sponsors two teams for the First Lego League robotics competition. 4th and 5th grade learners on these teams focus on real world problem solving, teamwork, and designing and programming Lego Mindstorm robots to complete tasks. One of the teams is fully funded by Tesla as part of their Nevada education initiative.

DRONES
Lomie Heard ES hosts the only elementary level drone teams in the state of Nevada. 4th and 5th grader learners practice drone flying skills and program Parrot Mambos to fly through an obstacle course autonomously. Teams will compete in the spring Aerial Drone Competition.

UKULELE ORCHESTRA
The Lomie G Heard Ukulele Orchestra is a musical ensemble which encompasses Vocals, Ukuleles, Pianos, Drums, and other musical instruments. We are a learner empowered creative musical endeavor.

BALLET FOLKLÓRICO
Learners will participate in 80 minutes of dance instruction per week to develop basic skills in Ballet Folklórico. We will teach students about the history, culture, music, and the art of dancing folklórico dance from states all around Mexico. Learners in this dance club will acquire basic dance skills, dance terminology, and knowledge of the origin and costuming of the folklórico dances learned in class. Most importantly learners will have fun while learning and appreciating this cultural heritage. Performances will be held throughout the year.

SOCCER
Soccer offers a competitive opportunity for students to grow and perfect soccer skills.

CROSS COUNTRY
Students learn the basics of running and have an opportunity to compete in a 2 mile cross country race.

GIRLS ON THE RUN
Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. The culminating event for the GOTR season is a 5k run and celebration held at UNLV.

ART CLUB
Art Club is an opportunity for 16 learners, grades 4-5, to work on extended art projects in a small group setting with other learners who share their passion for the visual arts. We aim to foster students’ imagination and encourage them to experiment with various media, while expressing themselves as they explore every part of their artistic experience. We will be working on individual, group, and collaborative art pieces that will be displayed throughout our campus.

CHEER
Cheerleaders compete in local and national competitions. They took 1st place in SHARP International and MCDA last year! Cheerleaders also participate in the MLK parade and Chinese New Year.
