MAGNET INFORMATION

Lomie G. Heard Elementary is a public magnet school in the Clark County School District. Our school serves learners in grades 1-5 from across the Las Vegas valley. Our curriculum and instruction focuses on competency based learning so that we can address the individual strengths and deficits of each individual learner. We also prepare our learners for the jobs of tomorrow by helping them master coding and robotics skills through comprehensive, hands-on experiences.

CCSD magnet programs offer learning opportunities related to various themes for interested students.  Students from across the District may apply to a magnet program regardless of the region in which they reside, however, transportation will only be provided to students living within the designated transportation boundary for the magnet program. The purposes of magnet programs are to improve student achievement, promote diversity, and create an awareness of career opportunities relative to the fields of study in which students may be interested.

Parents of interested students must submit applications to the Magnet Schools Office by the annually specified deadline date. If there are more applications than there are seats available, a computerized random lottery will be utilized for student selections.

Applications may be completed and submitted online on the CCSD Magnet Website at https://magnet.ccsd.net. Applications are also available at schools, parent information meetings, or at magnet school/magnet program events. Application deadlines are specified on applications.
